How to Connect to a Server

Connecting to a realXtend server

  1. Start realXtend Viewer (Note that there are some differences between the older client and the next-generation Naali viewer)
  2. User Name: your accountname@authentication-server-address. If you are running a standalone server, you can connect with testuser@127.0.0.1. If you have registered an account in realXtend avatar service, it could be for example jackb@avatar.realxtend.net. Of if you are logging in to a LAN server, it could be jane@192.168.1.123
  3. Password is your password
  4. Valid connect to options are:
    • Authentication Server Home Grid - your home world defined on the authentication server by the server administrator (Not available in Naali)
    • Local Server - a server running on your local computer 127.0.0.1
    • Type address to the server, for example http://192.168.1.123:9000 or http://www.myrexservers.org:9000
    • Press the Quick connect buttons which allow you to login to demo worlds anonymously (Naali specific feature)
  5. Press Connect button

Connecting to an Opensim Server

  1. Start realXtend Viewer (in the Naali viewer OpenSim login is a separate tab)
  2. User Name: your firstname lastname (separated by a space). It could be for example Test User or Jack Rexman.
  3. Password is your password
  4. Valid connect to options are:
    • Local Server - a server running on your own computer 127.0.0.1
    • Type address to the server, for example http://192.168.1.123:9000
  5. Press Connect button

Web Login

  1. OpenID login is possible with Naali client and Taiga / Sciencesim servers running CableBeach
  2. Web Login tab in the Naali viewer shows a list of example worlds, it is also possible to enter the address manually
  3. Supports OpenID, Google and Yahoo accounts

Connecting to Second Life

  1. Start realXtend Viewer
  2. User Name: your firstname lastname (separated by a space). Your SL name. It could be for example Test User or Jack Rexman.
  3. Password is your password
  4. Valid connect to options are:
    • Second Life
  5. Press Connect button
