Introduction to realXtend Server Platform

realXtend server platform consists of the following servers:

• Authentication Server - Keeps records of users and handles authentication
  
• Avatar Storage Server - Stores and delivers avatar data
  
• realXtend server - OpenSim with modrex plugins, handles world simulation
  

The next-generation Taiga platform includes support for HTTP assets, WebDAV and OpenID based authentication through the use of Cable Beach services.

What this design means in practise is that:

• Users can use the same avatar account in all worlds (rexservers)
• Servers can be mixed: For example a company can host their own Authentication & AvatarStorage servers (which have the avatar accounts and avatar asset data) and then use those accounts to enter a world(RexServer) hosted by another individual or company.
